About the Role

At Irwin Mitchell, we believe that great decisions start with great insight. As our Client Insight Manager, you will lead and develop a firm-wide approach to understanding our clients, markets, competitors, and brand, embedding insight at the core of strategic decision-making.

You’ll champion innovative research methods, connect and activate insights, and help the firm make evidence-based decisions that strengthen client relationships, unlock growth opportunities, and enhance our competitive edge.

This is a highly visible role requiring close collaboration with senior leaders, department heads, fee earners, and wider business services teams. You’ll transform complex information into clear, actionable recommendations, influencing strategic direction and driving commercial outcomes.

Technology will be integral to your success, with responsibilities to explore opportunities for efficiency improvements, automation, and AI-enabled tools—ensuring all outputs remain ethical, credible, and effective.


Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership & Vision

  • Develop and implement a firm-wide insight strategy aligned with business priorities and growth objectives.
  • Champion quantitative, qualitative, and secondary research approaches to drive meaningful, actionable insights.

Research & Insight Generation

  • Design and lead comprehensive research programmes to capture insights on clients, markets, competitors, and brand positioning.
  • Analyse and synthesise data from disparate sources, translating complex findings into pragmatic recommendations for diverse stakeholders.

Collaboration & Influence

  • Partner with Marketing, Business Development, Data, Digital, and Legal Services teams to identify trends, opportunities, and risks.
  • Collaborate with Business Services to ensure insights feed into operational decision-making.

Reporting & Knowledge Sharing

  • Produce High-quality reports, presentations, and recommendation briefs supporting both strategic and day-to-day decisions.
  • Drive a culture of insight-led decision-making through increased engagement across the organisation.

Technology & Innovation

  • Identify and implement opportunities for automation and AI-enabled tools to enhance insight collection, analysis, and dissemination.
  • Evaluate emerging methodologies and technology, ensuring the firm remains at the forefront of best practices.

Quality & Governance

  • Ensure all insights are credible, accurate, well-documented, and aligned with appropriate data governance frameworks.

Project & Stakeholder Management

  • Manage multiple concurrent insight projects, balancing priorities while maintaining efficiency and quality.
  • Serve as a trusted adviser to senior leadership, offering constructive challenge and expert guidance.

People Leadership

  • Lead and develop a Client Insight Analyst, providing mentorship, coaching, and line management.
  • Responsible for 1:1 meetings, performance reviews, objective setting, and continuous professional development of direct reports.
  • Foster a collaborative and innovative culture, encouraging curiosity and continuous improvement.

Requirements

Essential

  • Experience in designing and delivering insight programmes using quantitative, qualitative, and/or secondary research methodologies
  • Strength in translating complex information into clear, evidence-based recommendations accessible to executives
  • Ability to engage senior stakeholders effectively and adapt messaging to influence decision-making
  • Skill in converting business challenges into research strategies and actionable outcomes
  • Proven ability to build cross-functional partnerships across diverse organisational levels
  • Experience managing multiple projects under tight deadlines while maintaining high output standards
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to simplify intricate information and present compelling narratives
  • Technical expertise in data analysis, reporting, and business intelligence tools
  • Manage, coach, or develop team members, including conducting performance discussions and growth planning conversations

  • Experience in developing enterprise-wide insight strategies
  • Background in legal, professional services, or regulated environments
  • Focus on client, market, competitor, and brand insights
  • Introducing new research methodologies, technologies, and innovative approaches
  • Using AI tools in insight-driven roles (e.g., data analysis, knowledge management)
  • Promoting insight-led culture transformation
  • Engagement with VoC (Voice of Customer) programmes, customer experience mapping
  • Experience with data visualisation or advanced reporting platforms (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, predictive analytics tools)
  • Interest in social responsibility and pro bono initiatives
