Client Project Manager
Client Project Manager – Pensions Industry (Senior Level)
Location: Nationwide (Hybrid/Flexible) Employment Type: Permanent
About the Role
We are seeking a highly experienced Client Project Manager with specialised expertise in the pensions sector and a track record of leading complex, strategic client engagements. Based within our Actuarial & Consulting service line, you will work closely with senior stakeholders across the firm to drive high-impact, bespoke projects, while also shaping project management standards and mentoring junior team members.
This role affords unparalleled influence the following key areas of focus:
- GMP Equalisation and Transparency (GMPe) – Collaborating with the GMPe Programme Director to deliver strategic outcomes and regulatory compliance.
- Data Transformation & Pension Administration – Supporting Isio’s Pension Administration and Operations teams in digital solutions and efficiencies.
- Insurance Transactions – Managing buy-ins, buy-outs, and large-scale pension de-risking projects.
Day-to-day responsibilities may include:
Client Projects & Strategy
- Define and execute full project lifecycles (setup, planning, delivery, and close) for multiple concurrent high-value engagements.
- Partner with internal teams and external stakeholders to deliver bespoke pension solutions.
- Drive project governance, risk management, and change control.
- Lead progress reporting and deadline adherence to senior clients and board-level decision-makers.
Stakeholder & Business Development
- Build trusted advisory relationships with senior client executives, trustees, and buy-side decision-makers.
- Support RFPs, pitches, client proposals, and business development initiatives, bringing expertise to winning projects.
- Influence Strategic Direction: Ensure projects align with Isio’s market position, technological enhancements, and client needs.
Team & Resource Leadership
- Develop and mentor project managers, fostering a high-performance working culture.
- Optimise workload allocation, prioritisation, and resource deployment across projects.
- Champion best-in-class project management methodologies and tools.
Financial & Delivery Governance

- Develop invoicing, budgetary controls, and earn-as-you-go models.

Key Responsibilities
1. Delivering High-Impact Pension Solutions
- Align project outcomes with client objectives, regulatory requirements (e.g., GMPe, Solvency II, Pensions Schemes Act 2021).
- Work closely with actuaries, investment teams, and administration specialists to resolve complex technical challenges.
2. Stakeholder Influence & Decision-Making
- Formalise leadership outcomes at senior client interviews and governance forums.
- Paraphrase complex issues into clear, strategic recommendations for SR11 sustainability reporting and trustees.
3. Garnering & Shaping Engagement Opportunities
- Contribute to bid responses, translating consultative engagements into coachable lessons.
- Support PRI/Pension-Fund governance initiatives, ensuring investor trust alignment.
4. Operational Enablement
- Streamline internal handoffs with Pension Administration and Operational Solutions teams.
Ideal Candidate Profile
Required Skills & Experience
- At least 5+ years’ experience in project management within the pensions/employee benefits industry, with expertise in:
- Structured settlement procurements and letter of intent compliance.
- Multi-year buy-in, buy-out, and financial transaction project management.
- Proven ability to manage multiple high-stakes engagements simultaneously, meeting timelines under tight resource constraints.
- Hands-on familiarity with:
- Microsoft Project, Excel modelling for spin-off strategy analyses.
- Workday Pension Online, in-house commercial systems, and HERA accrued pension frameworks.
- Modular Finance software experience (e.g., Watson Wyatt, Paycare, ARMA) desirable.
Soft Skills & Mindset
- Exceptional diplomatic and analytical skills – Bridging the gap between senior leadership teams, specialist advisers, and end clients.
- Ability to simplify jargon, especially when U.K. employed contract defrayal or offshore trust changes apply.
- Ensuring that notably progressive strategies (e.g., GMPe implementation) align with regulatory costs.

Professional Qualifications
