Client Project Manager
Client Project Manager (Pensions) – Isio
We are seeking an experienced Client Project Manager with deep expertise in the pensions industry, who has a strong track record of leading complex client projects and influencing at a senior level.
About the Role
The Pensions Project Management Team sits within the Actuarial & Consulting service line and works alongside Isio’s broader Projects team. This position offers a unique opportunity to:
- Lead high-profile, strategic client projects.
- Work with senior leaders across all service lines nationwide.
- Take the lead as Client Project Manager on complex, bespoke client-facing projects.
- Performance manage project managers and contribute to evolving our project management capability.
- Act as a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders.
Key Areas of Focus
One of the primary focuses of the role is GMPe projects (Gender Pension Equality), where you will collaborate closely with the GMPe Programme Director to deliver intended outcomes. Additionally, the team is actively developing support in:
- Data transformation in partnership with Isio’s Pension Administration and Operational Solutions teams.
- Insurance transactions (including buy-ins and buy-outs).
Responsibilities
Your role may include a variety of demanding activities, typically including:

- Drive, define, and manage project strategy and the full project life cycle for multiple clients, covering:
- Project set-up, planning, and coordination.
- Progress reporting to key stakeholders.
- Mitigating risks and ensuring successful project closure.

Stakeholder Management:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with senior client stakeholders and internal leadership.
- Influence decision-making and provide strategic guidance.
- Participation in Business Development, including pitches and client proposals.

- Develop and mentor colleagues to foster a high-performance culture.
- Ensure clear communication and collaboration across the project team.

Resource Management:
- Support in assigning and prioritising resources for projects across the firm.

Financial Management:
- Manage Work in Progress (WIP), prepare fees/invoices, and track budget vs. actual expenditure.

- Champion best practices in project management.
- Mentor junior team members.
- Contribute to frameworks, methodologies, and operational improvements.

- Play an active role in Requests for Proposals (RFPs), pitches, and proposals.
- Identify business opportunities to strengthen client relationships.
Requirements
We’re looking for candidates who can demonstrate the following capabilities:
- Pensions industry experience: A proven track record delivering complex client projects, with clear evidence of managing multiple high-value engagements simultaneously.
- Stakeholder influence: The ability to lead cross-functional teams, engage senior stakeholders, and prioritise competing demands.
- Communication & leadership: Exceptional communication and presentation skills, coupled with confidence in representing Isio at senior client forums.
- Technical literacy:
- Proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite (especially MS Project).
- Familiarity with project management tools.
- Independent work: Ability to work autonomously while leading and mentoring others.
- Professional qualifications (preferred but not mandatory):
- Association for Project Management (APM) PMQ.
- Chartered Project Professional (ChPP).
