Client Project Manager
Client Project Manager – Pensions (Expertise)
Location: Nationwide (UK), Hybrid Working
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Client Project Manager with deep expertise in the pensions industry. This role will bring you the exciting opportunity to:
- Lead high-profile, strategic client projects across GMPe, data transformation, buy-ins/buy-out transactions, and pension administration.
- Shape the evolution of project management capabilities within Isio.
- Work closely with senior leaders nationwide, acting as a trusted advisor to stakeholders.
- Develop colleagues and drive a high-performance culture.
Focus areas include:
- GMPe projects (collaboration with the GMPe Programme Director)
- Data transformation projects (working with Isio’s Pensions Administration & Operational Solutions)
- Insurance transactions (buy-ins/buy-outs, pensions restructuring)
Key Responsibilities
Client Projects & Strategy
- Drive, define, and manage project strategy and full life cycle for multiple concurrent engagements (setup, planning, stakeholder reporting, risk control, and closure).
- Ensure client-centric solutions aligned with market needs and Isio’s strategic priorities.
Stakeholder Management
- Build and maintain strong, high-level relationships with:
- Senior client stakeholders (e.g., pension trustees, employers)
- Internal leadership across service lines.
- Influence decision-making and provide strategic guidance.
- Contribute to business development (RFPs, pitches, client proposals).

Team & Resource Management
- Manage performance of project-focused teams.
- Develop colleagues to foster a high-performing culture.
- Prioritise and allocate resources in line with central programme needs.
Financial & Operational Management
- Manage work in progress (WIP), fee/invoice preparation, and budget vs. actual tracking.
- Champion best practices in project management.
- Mentor junior team members and refine methodologies (e.g., frameworks, processes).
Business Development & Proposition
- Identify and drive revenue opportunities through active engagement with clients.
- Lead continuous proposition development to maintain competitiveness and market relevance.
Requirements
Essential
- Proven track record in delivering complex client projects in pensions or financial services.
- Ability to balance multiple high-value engagements concurrently.
- Strong stakeholder influence at a senior level and cross-team leadership.
- Excellent communication & presentation skills (verbal confidence to represent Isio).
- IT proficiency: Microsoft Office Suite (including MS Project) + familiarity with project management tools.
Preferred
- Qualifications: Association for Project Management (APM) PMQ or Chartered Project Professional (ChPP).
- Experience in data transformation, insurance-driven transactions, or regulatory pensions work.
