Pensions Industry Specialisation – Actuarial & Consulting

We are seeking an experienced Client Project Manager with deep expertise in the pensions industry. You will have a strong track record of leading complex client projects and providing influence at a senior level.


About the Role

The Pensions Project Management Team operates within Isio’s Actuarial & Consulting service line. As part of our broader Projects team, you will:

  • Lead high-profile, strategic client projects nationwide
  • Work collaboratively with senior leaders across all service lines
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to key stakeholders

This critical position offers the opportunity to:

  • Take the lead as Client Project Manager on bespoke client projects
  • Perform performance management of project managers
  • Contribute to the evolution of Isio’s project management methodology
  • Partner closely with senior stakeholders while driving Infrastructure implementation

Key Focus Areas

Our ideal candidate will collaborate primarily on:

  • GMPe programme work – Aligning with the GMPe Programme Director
  • Data transformation initiatives – Partnering with our Pension Administration and Operational Solutions teams
  • Insurance transactions – Managing buy-ins and buy-outs

Key Responsibilities

1. Client Projects & Strategy

  • Drive, define, and manage the full project life cycle for multiple clients:
    • Project set-up and planning
    • Execution and monitoring
    • Regular reporting to stakeholders
    • Project close-out
  • Managing competing priorities across high-value engagements

2. Stakeholder Management

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with:
    • Senior internal leadership
    • External client stakeholders
  • Influence decision-making and strategy for major transactions
  • Active involvement in business development opportunities:
    • RFPs (Requests for Proposal)
    • Bid pitches
    • Client proposals

3. Team & Resource Leadership

  • Develop and manage teams – Foster high performance culture
  • Ensure clear and effective communication across project teams
  • Support the central programme team in resource assignment and prioritisation

4. Financial & Operational Excellence

  • Working in Progress (WIP) management
  • Fees and invoicing preparation
  • Budget vs. actual financial control

5. Proposition & Capability Development

  • Lead ongoing proposition development to:
    • Remain competitive and customer-centric
    • Align with market opportunities
  • Champion best practices in project management, mentor junior staff
  • Assess evolving frameworks and methodologies within Isio

6. Business Development Contribution

  • Engage proactively in future-facing opportunities
  • Support client-facing pitches and proposals

Requirements

Essential Qualifications & Experience

✔ Experience delivering complex client projects in the pensions industry, including:

  • Managing multiple high-value engagements simultaneously
  • Demonstrated success influencing senior stakeholders
  • Cross-functional leadership to drive outcomes

✔ Proven track record in stakeholder management, including:

  • Confident representation as senior spokesperson for Isio
  • Ability to resolve competing priorities while leading distributed teams

✔ IT proficiency:

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office suite (including MS Project)
  • Experience with project management tools

✔ Ability to work autonomously while inspiring and supporting colleagues

  • Association for Project Management (APM) PMQ certification
  • Chartered Project Professional (ChPP)
