Climate Resilience GLM Lead – Global Leadership Role
Join Haskoning and help shape the future of climate resilience worldwide. This is a highly visible leadership role combining strategy, business development, client engagement, and thought leadership, focused on growing our global position in flood, coastal and water resilience and climate advisory.
About the Role
As the Climate Resilience GLM Lead, you will drive Haskoning’s global market approach and growth, combining strategic leadership, business development, client engagement, and external representation to strengthen our market position, develop new opportunities, and ensure meaningful impact for clients and communities.
At Haskoning, climate resilience is rooted in water, delivering practical, large-scale solutions in:
- Flood risk management
- Coastal resilience
- Integrated water systems
- Climate advisory for strategic decisions
Key Responsibilities
1. Shape Our Global Market Strategy
- Define and evolve the global approach to climate resilience, focusing on the right markets, clients, and opportunities.
- Set the strategic direction and strengthen our global positioning.
- Identify priority markets, sectors, and clients.
- Convert market, policy, and investment trends into insights, value propositions, and growth plans.
2. Drive Business Growth & Development
- Build a strong pipeline of strategic opportunities and support major pursuits.
- Develop winning strategies and client engagement approaches.
- Collaborate with business development, marketing & growth teams to convert opportunities into successful projects.
3. Develop Strategic Client Relationships
- Engage with senior-level clients, investors, public authorities, and industry partners to strengthen market presence.
- Support key account strategies for major clients.
- Ensure client needs and market demands inform our services and innovation efforts.

4. Lead Industry Engagement & Thought Leadership
- Act as Haskoning’s external ambassador for climate resilience.
- Build visibility through events, partnerships, and publications.
- Position Haskoning in priority markets.
5. Connect Expertise Across the Global Business
- Build a global Climate Resilience community across international teams.
- Foster collaboration and knowledge sharing.
- Align future capabilities with market needs.
Where You’ll Work
- Company: Independent, employee-owned international consultancy blending engineering, design, consultancy, software, and technology.
- Mission: "Enhancing Society Together"—creating positive global impact.
- Projects: Diverse, international assignments leveraging 140+ years of expertise.
- Clients: Leading organisations in infrastructure, climate resilience, renewable energy, decarbonisation, and sustainable mobility.
- Location: Role based in Netherlands (NL) or United Kingdom (UK), with mandatory international travel.
- Reports to: Strategy Director – Water & Maritime.
What You Bring
- Strategic/commercial leadership experience, ideally in global consulting or engineering.
- Strong background in climate resilience, particularly in flood, coastal, and water management or related infrastructure.
- Proven track record in business development, winning complex, high-value opportunities.
- Robust external network across clients, partners, and investors.
- Ability to operate in complex, international environments and influence senior stakeholders.
- Highly commercial, with a client-focused mindset and ability to translate strategy into tangible results.
- Legal right to work in the NL or UK.
- Preferred: Degree in civil engineering, environmental sciences, or related discipline.
