Join Haskoning and help shape the future of climate resilience worldwide. This is a highly visible leadership role, combining strategy, business development, client engagement, and thought leadership—focusing on growing our global position in flood, coastal, and water resilience, along with climate advisory.


About the Role

As Climate Resilience Lead, you will drive Haskoning’s global market approach and growth by combining strategic leadership, business development, client engagement, and external representation. Our mission hinges on delivering practical, large-scale solutions in flood risk management, coastal resilience, integrated water systems, along with climate advisory that helps clients shape strategy and investment decisions.


Key Responsibilities

Shape Our Global Market Strategy

  • Define and evolve Haskoning’s global approach to climate resilience, ensuring alignment with the right markets, clients, and opportunities.
  • Set strategic direction and strengthen our global positioning.
  • Identify priority markets, sectors, and clients.
  • Convert market, policy, and investment trends into clear insights, value propositions, and growth plans.

Drive Business Growth & Strategic Pipelines

  • Build and maintain a strong pipeline of high-value, strategic opportunities.
  • Support major pursuits by developing winning strategies and bespoke client engagement approaches.
  • Collaborate with business development and marketing teams to convert opportunities into successful projects.

Develop & Strengthen Client Relationships

  • Engage with key clients, investors, public authorities, and industry partners at a senior level.
  • Support key account strategies for major clients.
  • Ensure client needs and market demands inform Haskoning’s services and innovation.

Lead Industry Engagement & Thought Leadership

  • Represent Haskoning as an externally trusted advisor on climate resilience.
  • Build visibility through events, partnerships, and thought leadership publications.
  • Position Haskoning prominently in priority markets.

Connect Expertise Globally

  • Build and align a global Climate Resilience community across international teams.
  • Foster cross-regional and cross-disciplinary collaboration and knowledge sharing.
  • Develop future capabilities to meet evolving market needs.

Where You’ll Work

Haskoning is an independent, employee-owned consultancy offering engineering, design, consultancy, and technology solutions with a 140-year legacy. Our 6,800+ employees across 25+ countries collaborate worldwide, tackling projects in infrastructure, climate resilience, renewable energy, decarbonisation, and sustainable mobility.

  • Location: Role can be based in either the Netherlands or the UK, with uniform travel requirements.
  • Reporting: Directly to the Strategy Director – Water & Maritime.

Requirements

  • Significant leadership experience in strategic, commercial, or business development, ideally in global consulting/engineering.
  • Strong background in climate resilience, particularly in flood/coastal/water management or infrastructure.
  • Proven track record in business development, winning complex, high-value projects.
  • Established external network spanning clients, partners, and investors.
  • Ability to effectively influence senior stakeholders in complex, international environments.
  • Highly commercial mindset, with a client-focused approach translating strategy into tangible results.
  • Willingness to travel internationally as required.
  • Degree in civil engineering, environmental sciences, or a related discipline.
  • Legal right to work in either the Netherlands or the UK.
