Climate Resilience Lead – Job Description
Join Haskoning and help shape the future of climate resilience worldwide. This is a highly visible leadership role combining strategy, business development, client engagement, and thought leadership—focussed on growing our global position in flood, coastal and water resilience, and climate advisory.
About the Role
As Climate Resilience Lead, you will drive Haskoning’s global market growth by combining strategic leadership, business development, client engagement, and external representation to:
- Strengthen our market position
- Develop new opportunities
- Ensure impactful solutions for communities and clients
Haskoning’s climate resilience work is water-centric, delivering large-scale solutions including flood risk management, coastal resilience, and integrated water systems, complemented by climate advisory for strategic and investment guidance.
Key Responsibilities
1. Shape Global Market Strategy
- Define and evolve Haskoning’s climate resilience market approach
- Set strategic direction and reinforce global positioning
- Identify priority markets, sectors, and clients
- Convert trends in policies and investments into actionable market insights, value propositions, and growth plans
2. Drive Growth and Business Development
- Build a strong pipeline of strategic opportunities
- Support major pursuits with winning strategies and tailored client engagement approaches
- Collaborate with business development and marketing teams to convert opportunities into successful projects
3. Strengthen Client Relationships
- Engage with key clients, investors, and public sector partners at a senior level
- Develop long-term account strategies for major clients
- Ensure Haskoning’s services align with client needs and market demands

4. Lead Thought Leadership & Market Representation
- Act as Haskoning’s external ambassador for climate resilience
- Boost visibility through events, publications, and partnerships
- Position the company as a trusted advisor in priority markets
5. Connect Global Climate Resilience Capabilities
- Build a strong cross-regional Climate Resilience community
- Foster collaboration and knowledge-sharing across disciplines
- Support capability development aligned with market needs
Where You’ll Work
At Haskoning, you’ll join an independent, employee-owned international consultancy offering engineering, design, and technology solutions. Our mission—"Enhancing Society Together"—drives our commitment to purpose-driven, impactful projects.
- Work with 6,800+ employees across 25+ countries
- Lead in dynamic sectors like infrastructure, renewable energy, decarbonisation, and sustainable mobility
- Report directly to the Strategy Director – Water & Maritime
- Base: Netherlands or UK (with required international travel)
What You Bring to the Role
- Leadership experience in strategy, commercial roles, or business development (preferably in global consulting/engineering)
- Strong background in climate resilience, with expertise in flood/coastal/water management or related infrastructure
- Proven track record in promoting market growth and winning large, high-value projects
- Established network of clients, partners, and investors in the sector
- Ability to navigate complex, international environments and influence senior stakeholders
- Highly commercial mindset with client-centric problem-solving
- Willingness to travel internationally as required

Qualifications:
- Degree in civil engineering, environmental sciences, or a related discipline
- Right to work in the UK or Netherlands
