Climate Resilience Lead

Climate Resilience Lead | Haskoning

Join Haskoning and help shape the future of climate resilience worldwide. This is a highly visible leadership role combining strategy, business development, client engagement, and thought leadership, focused on growing our global position in flood, coastal, and water resilience and climate advisory.

About the Role

As Climate Resilience Lead, you will drive Haskoning’s global market approach and growth—combining strategic leadership, business development, client engagement, and external representation to strengthen our market position, develop new opportunities, and ensure meaningful impact for our clients and communities.

At Haskoning, climate resilience is rooted in water, delivering practical, large-scale solutions in:

  • Flood risk management
  • Coastal resilience
  • Integrated water systems
  • Climate advisory for strategic and investment decisions

Key Responsibilities

Shape Our Global Market Strategy

  • Define and evolve Haskoning’s global climate resilience approach, focusing on the right markets, clients, and opportunities.
  • Set strategic direction and strengthen global positioning in climate resilience.
  • Identify priority markets, sectors, and key clients.
  • Translate market, policy, and investment trends into:
    • Clear market insights
    • Compelling value propositions
    • Actionable growth plans

Drive Growth & Business Development

  • Build a strong pipeline of strategic opportunities and support major pursuits.
  • Develop and maintain winning strategies for:
    • Client engagement
    • Complex, high-value projects
  • Collaborate with:
    • Business development teams
    • Marketing & growth teams to convert opportunities into projects.

Develop Strategic Client Relationships

  • Engage with senior-level clients, investors, public authorities, and industry partners.
  • Strengthen key account strategies for major clients.
  • Ensure client needs drive:
    • Our service offerings
    • Innovation initiatives

What You Bring to the Role

  • Significant leadership experience in strategic/commercial/business development roles, preferably in:
    • Global consulting
    • Engineering/design environments
  • Strong background in climate resilience, particularly:
    • Flood/coastal management
    • Water management
    • Related infrastructure
  • Proven track record in:
    • Business development
    • Market expansion
    • Winning high-value, complex opportunities
  • Wide external network across:
    • Clients
    • Partners
    • Investors
  • Ability to thrive in:
    • Complex, international matrix environments
    • Influencing senior stakeholders
  • Highly commercial mindset with a strong client focus—translating strategy into results.
  • Legal right to work in either the Netherlands or the UK.
  • Degree in:
    • Civil engineering
    • Environmental sciences
    • Related discipline
