Climate Resilience Lead

Climate Resilience Lead – Help Shape the Future of Climate Resilience Worldwide

Join Haskoning, an independent, employee-owned consultancy, and drive our global approach to flood, coastal, and water resilience, while delivering practical, large-scale solutions in climate advisory.


About the Role

This is a high-visibility leadership position combining strategy, business development, client engagement, and thought leadership. You will position Haskoning as a global leader in climate resilience solutions, fostering growth and impact across flood risk management, coastal resilience, and integrated water systems.

At the heart of this role is the ability to translate strategy into action, build global networks, and transform opportunities into meaningful projects that address climate-related challenges.


What You Will Do

Shape Global Market Strategy

  • Define and evolve Haskoning’s global climate resilience strategy, ensuring alignment with priority markets and clients.
  • Set the strategic direction to strengthen our global positioning in water resilience and climate advisory.
  • Identify key sectors, sectors, and investment trends and convert them into actionable market insights, value propositions, and growth plans.

Drive Business Growth and Development

  • Build a strong pipeline of strategic opportunities, supporting major pursuits with tailored client engagement and winning strategies.
  • Collaborate with business development and marketing teams to convert opportunities into high-value projects.

Develop Strategic Client Relationships

  • Engage with senior clients, investors, and industry partners to strengthen market presence and ensure Haskoning’s services remain innovative.
  • Act as the main point of contact for key account strategies, aligning solutions with client needs and market demand.

Lead Industry Engagement & Thought Leadership

  • Represent Haskoning externally as an authority on climate resilience, building credibility through publications, events, and partnerships.

Connect Expertise Globally

  • Foster cross-disciplinary collaboration across Haskoning’s international teams, bridging regions and capabilities.
  • Support the development of future alignments in climate resilience, ensuring innovation and readiness for emerging market needs.

Where You Will Work

Haskoning is an international consultancy specialising in engineering, design, consultancy, and technology, serving clients across:

  • Infrastructure & Climate Resilience
  • Renewable Energy & Decarbonisation
  • Sustainable Mobility

This position reports directly to the Strategy Director – Water & Maritime and has a flexible home base in the Netherlands or the UK, with mandatory international travel.


What You Bring

  • Strategic leadership experience in a business development or commercial role, ideally in global consulting or engineering.
  • Strong expertise in climate resilience, with a focus on flood, coastal, and water management – or related infrastructure sectors.
  • Proven success in winning high-value, complex projects and expanding business portfolios.
  • A robust external network across clients, partners, and investors in the sector.
  • Ability to thrive in international environments, influencing senior leaders and bridging teams.
  • Highly commercial mindset, aligning strategy with tangible business outcomes.
  • Legal right to work in the Netherlands or the UK.
  • Degree in civil engineering, environmental sciences, or a related discipline.
