Climate Resilience Lead
Join Haskoning and help shape the future of climate resilience worldwide. This is a highly visible leadership role that combines strategy, business development, client engagement, and thought leadership, focussed on growing our global position in flood, coastal, and water resilience and climate advisory.
About the Role
As Climate Resilience Lead, you will drive Haskoning's global market approach and growth—combining strategic leadership, business development, client engagement, and external representation to strengthen our market position, develop new opportunities, and ensure meaningful impact for clients and communities.
At Haskoning, climate resilience is rooted in water, focusing on delivering practical, large-scale solutions in:
- Flood risk management
- Coastal resilience
- Integrated water systems
- Climate advisory to shape strategy and investment decisions
Key Responsibilities
Shape our global market strategy
- Define and evolve Haskoning’s global climate resilience approach
- Set strategic direction and strengthen global positioning
- Identify priority markets, sectors, and clients
- Convert market, policy, and investment trends into insights, value propositions, and growth plans
Drive growth and business development
- Build a strong pipeline of strategic opportunities
- Support major pursuits with winning strategies and client engagement approaches
- Collaborate with business development and marketing teams to convert opportunities into successful projects
Develop strategic client relationships
- Engage senior-level decision-makers across clients, investors, public authorities, and industry partners
- Support key account strategies for major clients
- Align service offerings with market demands and innovation
Lead industry engagement and thought leadership
- Represent Haskoning as a trusted advisor in the market
- Strengthen visibility through events, partnerships, and publications
- Position Haskoning in priority markets as the leader in resilience and sustainability

Where You Will Work
- Organisation: Join an independent, employee-owned international consultancy specialising in engineering, design, consulting, software, and technology

- Location: Based in either The Netherlands (NL) or United Kingdom (UK), with mandatory international travel
- Reporting: Directly to the Strategy Director – Water & Maritime
Requirements
Experience & Expertise
- Significant leadership experience in strategic, commercial, or business development roles, ideally within global consulting or engineering environments
- Strong background in climate resilience, particularly flood/coastal and water management, or related infrastructure sectors
- Proven track record in:
- Business development
- Market growth
- Winning complex, high-value opportunities
- Extensive external network across clients, partners, and investors
- Ability to operate in complex, international matrix environments and influence senior stakeholders
- Highly commercial mindset with a strong client focus, translating strategy into tangible business results
- Willingness to travel internationally as required

Qualifications
- Degree in civil engineering, environmental sciences, or related field
Visa Considerations
- Must have the legal right to work in either The Netherlands or the United Kingdom
