Climate Resilience Lead

Climate Resilience Lead – Join Haskoning and Shape the Future of Climate Resilience Worldwide

This is a highly visible leadership role combining strategy, business development, client engagement, and thought leadership, focused on growing Haskoning’s global position in flood, coastal, and water resilience and climate advisory.


About the Role

As Climate Resilience Lead, you will drive Haskoning’s global market strategy, business growth, and thought leadership—positioning the organisation as a trusted advisor in climate resilience solutions.

Haskoning specialises in delivering practical, large-scale solutions in:

  • Flood risk management
  • Coastal resilience
  • Integrated water systems
  • Climate advisory for strategic investment

What You Will Do

Shape Our Global Market Strategy

  • Define and refine Haskoning’s global approach to climate resilience
  • Set strategic direction to strengthen global market positioning
  • Identify priority sectors, markets, and clients
  • Convert trends in policy, market, and investment into market insights, value propositions, and growth plans

Drive Business Growth & Development

  • Build a strong pipeline of high-value opportunities
  • Support major pursuits by developing winning client strategies and engagement approaches
  • Collaborate with Business Development and Marketing & Growth teams to convert opportunities into successful projects

Develop Strategic Client Relationships

  • Engage with senior stakeholders (clients, investors, public authorities, and partners)
  • Support key account strategies for major clients
  • Align services and innovation with client needs and market demands

Lead Industry Engagement & Thought Leadership

  • Represent Haskoning externally as a trusted climate resilience advisor
  • Increase visibility through events, partnerships, and publications
  • Strengthen global positioning in priority markets

Where You Will Work

Haskoning is an independent, employee-owned international consultancy delivering engineering, design, and consultancy—combined with software and technology.

This role reports directly to the Strategy Director – Water & Maritime and is based in either the Netherlands (NL) or the UK with regular international travel.


What You Bring

Essential Experience & Qualifications

  • Strategic and commercial leadership (ideally in global consulting or engineering)
  • Specialist background in climate resilience, flood/coastal resilience, or related water infrastructure
  • Proven ability in:
    • Business development and market growth
    • Winning complex, high-value opportunities
  • Strong external network with clients, partners, and investors in the sector
  • Matrix management experience across international, multidisciplinary teams
  • Highly commercial mindset, client-focused, and able to translate strategy into business impact
  • Legal right to work in either the NL or the UK
  • Degree in civil engineering, environmental sciences, or a related discipline
