Climate Resilience Lead
Climate Resilience Lead – Haskoning

This is a highly visible leadership role that combines strategy, business development, client engagement, and thought leadership, with a focus on growing our global position in flood, coastal and water resilience and climate advisory.
About the Role
As Climate Resilience Lead, you will drive global market growth by combining strategic leadership, business development, client engagement, and external representation.
At Haskoning, climate resilience is rooted in water, delivering practical, large-scale solutions in:
- Flood risk management
- Coastal resilience
- Integrated water systems
- Climate advisory
Responsibilities
Shape our global market strategy
- Define and evolve our global approach to climate resilience, ensuring focus on the right markets, clients, and opportunities.
- Set the strategic direction and strengthen global positioning.
- Identify priority markets, sectors, and clients.
- Convert market, policy, and investment trends into clear market insights, value propositions, and growth plans.
Drive growth and business development
- Play a key role in building a strong pipeline of strategic opportunities.
- Support major pursuits and develop winning strategies and client engagement approaches.
- Collaborate with business development and marketing teams to convert opportunities into projects.
Develop strategic client relationships
- Engage with clients and partners at senior levels to strengthen market presence.
- Foster key client relationships (investors, public authorities, industry partners).
- Ensure client needs and market demands are reflected in our services and innovation.

Lead industry engagement and thought leadership
- Represent Haskoning as an external ambassador for climate resilience.
- Increase visibility through events, partnerships, and publications.
- Position Haskoning as a trusted adviser in priority markets.
Connect expertise across our global business
- Build and connect a global Climate Resilience community across international teams.
- Foster collaboration and knowledge-sharing.
- Support future capabilities aligned with market needs.
Where You Will Work
- Join an independent, employee-owned international consultancy offering engineering, design, and software/tech-enabled consultancy.
- Mission: "Enhancing Society Together"—creating positive global impact.
- Projects: Diverse international initiatives in climate resilience, infrastructure, renewables, decarbonisation, and mobility.
- Location: Netherlands (NL) or United Kingdom (UK)—with frequent international travel required.
The role reports directly to the Strategy Director – Water & Maritime.
Requirements
Experience & Background
- Proven leadership in strategic, commercial, or business development (preferably in global consulting or engineering).
- Strong background in flood/coastal resilience or water management/infrastructure sectors.
- Tracks record of business development, market growth, and winning complex, high-value opportunities.
- Global external network with clients, partners, and investors.

Personal Fit
- Ability to thrive in complex, international environments and influence senior stakeholders.
- Highly commercial, client-focused, with the ability to translate strategy into results.
- Legal right to work in NL or UK.
Education
- Degree in civil engineering, environmental sciences, or a related discipline.
