About the Role
As Climate Resilience Lead, you will drive Haskoning’s market growth across flood and coastal resilience and water systems, combined with climate strategy support for decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
Shape our global market strategy
- Define and evolve Haskoning’s approach to climate resilience, focusing on strategic markets, clients, and opportunities.
- Set and strengthen our global positioning in flood risk management, coastal resilience, and climate advisory.
- Translate policy and investment trends into insights, value propositions, and growth strategies.
- Identify priority markets, sectors, and clients that align with our ambitious targets.
Drive growth and business development
- Build and maintain a strategic pipeline of new opportunities, prioritising high-value pursuits.
- Support major project bids with winning strategies and tailored client approaches.
- Collaborate with business development and marketing teams to convert opportunities into projects.
Develop strategic client relationships
- Engage with global decision-makers (clients, investors, governments, and partners).
- Represent Haskoning in key client engagement initiatives, shaping relationships for long-term growth.
- Ensure our service offering evolves to reflect market needs and emerging challenges.
Lead industry engagement and thought leadership
- Amplify Haskoning’s reputation as a trusted advisor to governments, corporates, and financial institutions.
- Share expertise through publications, speaking engagements, and grey-literature (e.g., reports, workshops).
- Position the firm as a market leader in clean transition initiatives, particularly around water and coastal adaptation.
Connect global expertise
- Build and maintain a tightly-knit global Climate Resilience network across offices.
- Foster cross-disciplinary collaboration to ensure capability aligns with market demands.
- Support training programs and innovation hubs for teams across regions.

About Haskoning
At Haskoning, you’ll work in an employee-owned, international consultancy specialising in engineering, software and consultancy services with a history of over 140 years. Our 25-country team (6,800+ employees) delivers large-scale, technically advanced projects in:

This role reports directly to the Strategy Director – Water & Maritime. The position is based in the Netherlands or the UK (with travel obligations). Preparing candidates:
Requirements
Experience
- Strategic leadership in business development, preferably within global consultancy/engineering.
- Proven track record in leading growth and winning complex, high-value assignments, particularly in flood, coastal or water-related projects.
Background
- Strong understanding of climate resilience, flood management, coastal strategies, or water/energy infrastructure sectors.
- Experience engaging with public authorities, investors, and cross-sector partners at senior levels.
Skills
- Exceptional commercial acumen and ability to translate strategy into growth outcomes.
- Demonstrated success in dynamic, matrix organizations, influencing senior leadership from a delivery-first perspective.
- Single-minded focus on client success—stakeholder relationship management with high-impact results.
Compliance
- Ability (or willingness) to travel internationally as needed due to the globally distributed nature of the role.
- Legal right to work in the Netherlands or the United Kingdom.
Attitude
- Social license: You will work with markets that have differing perspectives. Your Handling of this, from a enablistic point ofview, is of great importance.
Education
- Degree in civil engineering, environmental sciences, or a closely related discipline.
