About the Role
As Climate Resilience Lead, you will:
- Drive Haskoning’s market strategy to grow our global impact across flood risk management, coastal resilience, and integrated water systems.
- Combine strategic leadership, business development, and client representation to convert opportunities into high-value projects.

The role reports to the Strategy Director – Water & Maritime and may be based in either the Netherlands or the UK, with international travel throughout the year.
Key Responsibilities: Shaping Climate Resilience with Strategy and Expertise
Define and Evolve Our Global Strategy
- Align our market focus on priority countries, sectors, and clients by analysing policy, investment, and industry trends.
- Translate these insights into captivating value propositions and growth plans to strengthen our global climate resilience positioning.
Drive Market Growth and Business Development
- Deliver a strategic pipeline of opportunities, from concept to winning proposals.
- Collaborate with development teams, marketing, and growth partners to convert opportunities into successful projects.
- Shape winning strategies and client engagement approaches for high-value pursuits.

Develop Strategic Client Relationships
- Forge senior-level partnerships with key clients, investors, authorities, and partners.
- Represent our client focus by addressing evolving needs and integrating innovation into services.
- Enable individualised client-centric strategies for major accounts.
Lead Industry Engagement & Thought Leadership
- Act as Haskoning’s official climate resilience ambassador, boosting our standing as a trusted advisor.
- Amplify visibility through industry events, thought-leading publications, and partnerships, positioning us as a leader in control climate resilience strategies.
Build Cross-Disciplinary Collaboration
- Foster a global community of climate resilience experts, connecting capabilities across disciplines and regions.
- Accelerate capability development in line with market demand.
- Facilitate knowledge sharing and insightful collaboration between teams.
Qualifications & Experience
We are seeking a strategic and commercially savvy leader with:
- Experience in strategic/modern commercial/ business development within global consulting or engineering.
- Strong expertise in flood/coastal/water management or equivalent infrastructure sectors, showcasing real impact.
- Proven commercial track record in: market development, winning high-value opportunities and navigating international matrices.
- Senior stakeholder influence achieved through industrial acumen and commercial savviness.
- Established relationships with industry professionals and clients across markets.
- Degree in civil engineering, environmental sciences, or an allied sector (with management success preferred).
- Permission to work in either the Netherlands or the UK (and must seek compliance locally).
