Climate Resilience Lead

Climate Resilience Lead – Global Market Strategy

Join Haskoning and help shape the future of climate resilience worldwide. This is a highly visible leadership role that combines strategy, business development, client engagement, and thought leadership, focused on growing our global position in flood, coastal, and water resilience and climate advisory.


About the Role

As Climate Resilience Lead, you will drive Haskoning’s global market approach and growth—combining strategic leadership, business development, client engagement, and external representation to:

  • Strengthen our market position.
  • Develop new opportunities.
  • Ensure we deliver meaningful impact for clients and communities.

At Haskoning, climate resilience is built on water solutions, delivering practical, large-scale outcomes in:

  • Flood risk management.
  • Coastal resilience.
  • Integrated water systems.
  • Climate advisory (strategy and investment shaping).

Key Responsibilities

Shape Our Global Market Strategy

  • Define and evolve Haskoning’s global climate resilience approach.
  • Ensure alignment with the right markets, clients, and opportunities.
  • Set strategic direction and strengthen global positioning.
  • Identify priority markets, sectors, and clients.
  • Convert market/policy/trend insights into growth strategies, value propositions, and plans.

Drive Growth & Business Development

  • Build and maintain a strategic opportunity pipeline.
  • Support major pursuits with winning strategies and client engagement approaches.
  • Collaborate with BD and marketing teams to convert opportunities into successful projects.

Develop Strategic Client Relationships

  • Engage with senior clients, investors, public authorities, and industry partners.
  • Strengthen relationships with key accounts.
  • Ensure client needs shape our services and innovation.

Lead Industry Engagement & Thought Leadership

  • Represent Haskoning as the external ambassador for climate resilience.
  • Increase visibility through events, partnerships, and publications.
  • Position Haskoning as a trusted advisor in priority markets.

Connect Expertise Across the Global Business

  • Build and connect global Climate Resilience teams.
  • Foster collaboration, knowledge sharing, and future capability development.

Location & Reporting

Based in the Netherlands or UK, with international travel required. Reports directly to the Strategy Director – Water & Maritime.


Requirements & Qualifications

Experience & Competencies

  • Significant experience in a strategic or business development leadership role, ideally in global consulting/engineering.
  • Strong background in climate resilience (flood/coastal/water management): related infrastructure sectors a plus.
  • Proven track record in business development, market growth, and winning high-value opportunities.
  • Extensive external network (clients, partners, investors) in the sector.
  • Ability to thrive in complex, international matrix environments and influence senior stakeholders.
  • Highly commercial, client-focused, with skill in translating strategy into business results.
  • Willingness to travel internationally.

Education

  • Degree in civil engineering, environmental sciences, or related discipline.

Location-Specific

  • Must have the legal right to work in NL or the UK.
