Climate Resilience Lead – Global Market Growth

This is a highly visible leadership role combining strategy, business development, client engagement, and thought leadership—focussed on growing Haskoning’s global position in flood, coastal, and water resilience and climate advisory.


What You Will Do

As Climate Resilience Lead, you will drive Haskoning’s global market strategy and growth, blending strategic leadership, commercial acumen, and client relations to amplify our impact.

Shape our global market strategy

  • Define and refine Haskoning’s global approach to climate resilience, ensuring the right markets, clients, and opportunities are prioritised
  • Set the strategic direction and solidify our global positioning in flood/coastal resilience and integrated water solutions
  • Identify high-value sectors, markets, and key clients, translating policy, investment, and trend data into actionable growth plans and value propositions

Drive growth and business development

  • Build a robust pipeline of strategic opportunities and support major pitches
  • Collaborate with business development, marketing, and collaborations teams to convert opportunities into sustainable projects
  • Develop tailored competitive strategies and client engagement blueprints for high-value pursuits

Develop strategic client relationships

  • Engage at senior levels with clients, investors, public authorities, and industry partners
  • Strengthen key account strategies for major clients
  • Act as a bridge between clients and Haskoning’s capabilities, ensuring our services evolve to meet emerging needs

Lead industry engagement and thought leadership

  • Serve as Haskoning’s externally-facing voice on climate resilience
  • Enhance reputation through publications, partnerships, and high-profile industry events
  • Position the firm as a trusted advisor in critical markets

Connect expertise globally

  • Build and orchestrate a global Climate Resilience network across regions and disciplines
  • Foster cross-disciplinary collaboration and knowledge-sharing initiatives
  • Drive the development of future-proof capabilities aligned with market demands

Where You Will Work

  • Join an employee-owned international consultancy (140+ years of expertise) specialising in engineering, design, software, and advisory services.
  • Haskoning operates in 25+ countries with 6,800+ employees, working on diverse, impact-driven projects in climate resilience, renewable energy, sustainability, and mobility.
  • Reporting to: Strategy Director – Water & Maritime
  • Location: Netherlands or UK
  • Travel: Frequent international travel will be required

What You Bring

Core Requirements

  • Strategic/commercial leadership experience (preferably in global consulting or engineering)
  • Strong background in climate resilience, including flood/coastal engineering or water management—or related infrastructure sectors
  • Proven business development track record, with expertise in winning high-value, complex tenders
  • Robust external network among clients, investors, and partners
  • Ability to thrive in international, matrix organisational structures and influence senior stakeholders
  • CommerciallyDRIVEG growth—with tangible results—by translating ambition into action.
  • Legal eligibility to work in either the UK or Netherlands

Preferred Qualifications

  • Degree in civil engineering, environmental sciences, or related disciplines
  • Eager to travel globally as needed
