Climate Resilience Lead - Haskoning

Join Haskoning and help shape the future of climate resilience worldwide. This is a highly visible leadership role that combines strategy, business development, client engagement, and thought leadership – focused on growing our global position in flood, coastal, and water resilience, and climate advisory.


About the Role

As Climate Resilience Lead, you will drive Haskoning’s global market approach and growth by combining strategic leadership, business development, client engagement, and external representation to:

  • Strengthen market positioning.
  • Develop new opportunities.
  • Ensure meaningful impact for clients and communities.

At Haskoning, climate resilience is rooted in water, delivering practical, large-scale solutions in:

  • Flood risk management.
  • Coastal resilience.
  • Integrated water systems.
  • Climate advisory (strategy & investment decisions).

Your Key Responsibilities

Shape Global Market Strategy

  • Define and evolve Haskoning’s approach to climate resilience.
  • Focus on optimal markets, clients, and opportunities.
  • Set the strategic direction and global positioning.
  • Identify priority markets, sectors, and clients.
  • Turn market, policy, and investment trends into:
    • Clear market insights.
    • Value propositions.
    • Growth plans.

Drive Business Growth & Development

  • Build a strong pipeline of strategic opportunities.
  • Support major pursuits by developing:
    • Winning strategies.
    • Client engagement approaches.
  • Collaborate with business development and marketing & growth teams to convert opportunities into successful projects.

Develop Strategic Client Relationships

  • Engage at a senior level with clients, partners, and other stakeholders.
  • Develop relationships with:
    • Key clients.
    • Investors.
    • Public authorities.
    • Industry partners.
  • Support key account strategies for major clients.
  • Align client needs and market demands with Haskoning’s services and innovation efforts.

Lead Industry Engagement & Thought Leadership

  • Act as Haskoning’s external ambassador for climate resilience.
  • Build visibility through:
    • Events.
    • Partnerships.
    • Publications.
  • Position Haskoning as the trusted adviser in priority markets.

Location: The role is based in either the Netherlands (NL) or the United Kingdom (UK) with international travel required.


What You Bring to the Role

  • Significant experience in a strategic, commercial, or business development leadership role, preferably in a global consulting or engineering environment.
  • Deep background in climate resilience, particularly:
    • Flood risk management.
    • Coastal resilience.
    • Water management or related infrastructure sectors.
  • Proven track record in:
    • Business development.
    • Market growth.
    • Winning complex, high-value opportunities.
  • Strong external network across:
    • Clients.
    • Partners.
    • Investors.
  • Ability to operate in complex international environments and influence senior stakeholders.
  • Highly commercial mindset with a strong client focus and ability to translate strategy into tangible business results.
  • Willingness to travel internationally as required.
  • Degree in:
    • Civil engineering.
    • Environmental sciences.
    • Or a related discipline.
