Climate Resilience Lead – Position Available in the Netherlands or UK
Join Haskoning and help shape the future of climate resilience worldwide. This is a highly visible leadership role that combines strategy, business development, client engagement, and thought leadership – focused on growing our global position in flood, coastal, and water resilience and climate advisory.
About the Role
As Climate Resilience Lead, you will drive Haskoning’s global market approach and growth, combining strategic leadership, business development, client engagement, and external representation to strengthen our market position, develop new opportunities, and deliver meaningful impact for our clients and communities.
At Haskoning, climate resilience is rooted in water, delivering practical, large-scale solutions in:
- Flood risk management
- Coastal resilience
- Integrated water systems
- Climate advisory (helping clients shape strategy and investment decisions)
Your Responsibilities
Shape our global market strategy
- Define and evolve our global climate resilience approach, focusing on the right markets, clients, and opportunities.
- Set the strategic direction and strengthen global positioning.
- Identify priority markets, sectors, and key clients.
- Convert market, policy, and investment trends into clear market insights, value propositions, and growth plans.
Drive growth and business development
- Build a strong pipeline of strategic opportunities.
- Support major pursuits with winning strategies and client engagement approaches.
- Collaborate with business development and marketing teams to convert opportunities into successful projects.
Develop strategic client relationships
- Engage with senior-level clients, investors, public authorities, and industry partners.
- Strengthen key account strategies for major clients.
- Ensure client needs and market demands influence our services and innovation initiatives.
Lead industry engagement and thought leadership
- Represent Haskoning as the external ambassador for climate resilience.
- Build visibility through events, partnerships, and publications.
- Position Haskoning as a trusted adviser in priority markets.

Where You’ll Work
At Haskoning, you’ll join an independent, employee-owned international consultancy combining engineering, design, and consultancy services with software and technology. Our mission, "Enhancing Society Together", drives us to create positive societal impact.
Working Environment & Project Scope:
- Purpose-driven, challenging work across diverse international projects.
- Leverages 140+ years of expertise with a global workforce of 6,800+ employees in over 25 countries.
- Projects span infrastructure, climate resilience, renewable energy, industrial decarbonisation, and sustainable mobility.
This senior leadership role reports directly to the Strategy Director – Water & Maritime.
- Location: Netherlands (NL) or United Kingdom (UK)
- Travel: Extensive international travel required throughout the year.
Requirements
- Experience: Significant experience in a strategic, commercial, or business development leadership role, ideally within global consulting or engineering domains.
- Background: Strong proficiency in climate resilience, particularly in flood, coastal, and water management, or related infrastructure sectors.
- Proven Results: Track record in winning complex, high-value opportunities and developing markets.
- Network: Robust external network across clients, partners, and investors.
- Leadership: Ability to operate in complex international environments and influence senior stakeholders.
- Commercial Acumen: Highly commercial mindset with a client-focused approach and a proven ability to translate strategy into tangible business outcomes.
- Mobility: Willingness to travel internationally.
- Education: Degree in civil engineering, environmental sciences, or related disciplines.
