Role Summary
You’ll be providing general administrative support for Public health for children and young people in our Public Health Nursing service.
You will be working with our East Somerset team primarily based in Shepton Mallet, helping to improve the health and wellbeing of young people and their families in Somerset by providing critical administrative support to frontline practitioners. The position may require occasional travel to meet operational requirements.
You will be making a difference in the lives of children and families by supporting Public Health Nursing (PHN) services as a Clinical Business Operations Assistant (CBOA), helping to improve the health and wellbeing of young people across Somerset through critical administrative support. You will be part of a collaborative, countywide team, helping to improve processes and deliver consistent, high-quality support.
What You’ll Do - Key Responsibilities
Your day-to-day work will involve:
- Supporting Health Visitors, Assistant Practitioners, and Team Leads deliver a comprehensive service to children and families in Somerset.
- Working as a team with Clinical Business Operations Assistants across the county to innovate processes and provide consistent support to all services.
- Handling sensitive and confidential data, maintaining comprehensive and accurate records.

You Will Also Need To
- Demonstrate initiative, organizing and prioritizing skills in providing general administrative support to the procurement service.
- Provide a support service and maintain an understanding of service activities.
- Work with accuracy, identify errors, and make corrections where appropriate.
- Act as a first point of contact and provide information to clients, suppliers, and the public.
Essential
What we’re looking for – knowledge, experience & skills
- Sound working knowledge of IT systems including Microsoft 365.
- Experience of working in an administrative role and within a team.
- Experience of communicating with members of the public face-to-face and via telephone, letter, and email.
- Experience of handling sensitive and confidential information.
- Experience of using client management systems and spreadsheets.
- Minimum NVQ level 2 standard/5 GCSEs, English and Maths, at Grade 4 or above with good standards of literacy, numeracy, and accuracy.
- Good organizational skills.
- The ability to prioritize conflicting work demands and have a flexible approach.
- The ability to follow agreed processes to ensure consistency is provided.
- The ability to produce high standards of accurate work and to work to deadlines.
- Ability to speak fluent English as stated in Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016).

Additional Information
This is a full-time role working 37 hours a week.
25 days of annual leave (additional to bank holidays)
