This opportunity is suited to an experienced professional with extensive inpatient bedside nursing experience across adult and paediatric care, or a strong background within the healthcare insurance sector, who is looking to apply their expertise in a broader, system‑focused role. This is a role for someone who wants to step away from the bedside while remaining closely connected to patient care. Based within one of the UK’s leading specialist cancer hospitals, you’ll work in an environment where clinical expertise, collaboration and patient focus shape everything we do, supporting patients through complex and often life‑changing pathways. The Case Management Team at The Christie Private Care works closely with consultants, multidisciplinary teams and third‑party payers to ensure care is safe, appropriate and well planned. The team is recognised for its calm, considered approach, strong relationships across services and focus on supporting patients and families at key points in their journey. As a Clinical Case Manager, you’ll combine clinical judgement, communication and organisation to assess, plan and coordinate care from admission through to discharge. Your work helps ensure patients receive the right care at the right time while supporting effective use of resources and high standards of care coordination. Above all else, we’re committed to the care and improvement of human life. It’s this guiding vision that influences everything we do at HCA UK. What you’ll do: Assess, plan, coordinate and review patient care and discharge planning across adult and paediatric services, starting from admission Act as a key liaison between patients, families, clinicians and third‑party payers to support safe, effective and timely care Complete utilisation reviews and obtain authorisation for treatment and ongoing care Contribute to multidisciplinary discussions and coordinated care and discharge decisions Promote patient advocacy, effective resource use and high standards of documentation and communication What you’ll bring: Registered with the NMC as an Adult Nurse, with substantial post‑registration experience and demonstrable exposure to paediatric care. Extensive inpatient bedside nursing experience across both adult and paediatric services is essential—candidates must have hands‑on clinical experience in both settings, not one or the other. Strong background in inpatient nursing or, alternatively, significant experience within the healthcare insurance sector in a clinical or case management role. Proven expertise in utilisation review and managing complex discharge planning pathways. Senior‑level clinical experience (typically Band 6 or above) with clear evidence of leadership and/or management responsibility. I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
