Clinical Coding Job Opportunity – Ysbyty Glan Clwyd
Job Overview
We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our established Clinical Coding Department at Ysbyty Glan Clwyd, Denbighshire.
The post holder will:
- Extract medical terms from clinical documents.
- Translate these to clinical codes for hospital activity tracking.
Trainee Clinical Coders will be considered if a qualified candidate is unavailable. Successful trainees will initially be on Band 3 and progress to Band 4 upon achieving NCCQ (National Clinical Coding Qualification) status.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable, though English/Welsh speakers are equally welcome.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
You must:
- Have a strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
- Demonstrate a keen attention to detail, essential for accurate coding.
- Stay updated on clinical coding developments through training (internal and specialty courses, possibly involving travel).

- GCSE Biology (Grade C/4 or equivalent).
- GCSE English (Grade C/4 or equivalent).
