Accredited Clinical Coding Auditor – East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust


The Organisation

You will bring strong leadership, experience, and a passion for quality improvement to help shape the future of clinical coding within East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust. This exciting role supports the transition to a new EPR system and greater agility in digital working.


About the Role

An opportunity to join our team as a senior member, where you’ll act as a role model for excellence. You will oversee quality, performance, and productivity in coding operations—critical in driving accurate data quality across the Trust while ensuring compliance with key performance indicators (KPIs).

Flexible working is available, including up to three days per week working from home, negotiated during recruitment.


Responsibilities

Strategic and Operational Leadership

  • Work closely with lead clinicians to ensure timely, standardized, and robust specialty-level data for performance assessments.
  • Develop and manage strategic plans for the Clinical Coding department under the direction of the Head of Clinical Coding.
  • Monitor and report on agreed KPIs and quality metrics, identifying areas for improvement.
  • Address and support structured improvement in under-performing areas.

Compliance and Audit

  • Conduct internal coding audits, using tools such as CHKS, to benchmark compliance against industry standards.
  • Participate in external exchange audits with other NHS Trusts, fostering knowledge sharing.

Team Mentorship and Growth

  • Mentor trainee coders, contributing to the department’s quality framework as aligned with the Head of Clinical Coding.
