Clinical Development Fellow (CDF) in Haematology – Applications Now Open
About the Role
Applications are invited from trainee doctors who have recently completed or are about to finish either UK Foundation Programmes or Core Medical Training to apply for the position of Clinical Development Fellow (CDF) in Haematology at Raigmore Hospital.
This progressive role sits within a Cancer Centre with full on-site support and radiotherapy services. As the post holder, you will:
- Gain hands-on experience in diagnosing and managing a range of malignant haematological disorders (e.g. myeloma, lymphomas, leukaemias) and benign haematology conditions (e.g. ITP, haemolysis).
- Develop proficiency in haemostasis and thrombosis, including specialty care for haemophilia.
- Learn to assess new patient cases and follow structured investigation pathways.
- Work alongside spinal units with access to oncology chemotherapy and immunotherapy, though prescribing responsibility will not be expected.
- Contribute to multidisciplinary team discussions (MDTs) involving radiology and pathology, enhancing your understanding of diagnostic processes (e.g. biopsy reviews, PET scans), disease monitoring, and treatment response evaluation.
Training & Development The role includes:
- 6 hours per week allocated for Continuing Professional Development (CPD) activities.
- Access to regular in-house training workshops.

The department serves as a BCSH Level 2b competent centre for haematology, offering comprehensive care for malignancies on-site. Additional responsibilities include supporting stem cell transplant referrals (shared with national Scottish centres), leading the local Haemophilia Centre, participating in a dynamic clinical trials programme, and collaborating with dedicated Nurse, Audit, and Research teams.
