The Role: Director of Practice and Clinical Services

We are seeking a highly experienced and commercially aware Veterinary Surgeon to join Mearley Veterary Group as Director of Practice and Clinical Services. This is an exemplary opportunity to step into a leadership role while staying actively involved in clinical practice.

Key Responsibilities

You will play a pivotal role in:

  • Overseeing operations across 3 veterinary practices (Clitheroe, Accrington, and Barrowford).
  • Leading the practice team while driving high clinical standards and sustainable commercial growth.
  • Delivering a clinical vision aligned with our strategy, standards, and values.
  • Ensuring clinical governance, quality improvement, and performance excellence across services.
  • Actively contributing to a 75% clinical caseload while mentoring colleagues and maintaining hands-on care.
  • Supporting operational leaders in delivering optimal patient outcomes and maintaining a strong clinical culture.

Practice Highlights

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Set and execute clinical strategies aligned with the UK’s leading vet care provider.
  • Drive continuous improvement in quality, governance, and patient outcomes.
  • Foster professional growth within the team and maintain inspirational clinical standards.
  • Collaborate with operational leaders to ensure excellence across all levels.

Working Pattern

  • Full-time role (40 hours/week)
    • Typically 4–5 days, afternoon shift preference (9am–7pm, flexible arrangement required).
    • Monthly Saturday commitments (1 in 4, 9am–1pm).
  • No on-call or out-of-hours duties.
  • 75% clinical caseload with dedicated leadership responsibilities.

Ideal Candidate Profile

You’ll bring:

✅ Senior/leadership experience within a veterinary practice environment. ✅ Proven clinical expertise, capable of handling complex cases and mentoring colleagues. ✅ A collaborative, people-centric leadership style with a track record of developing clinical teams. ✅ Strong commitment to clinical excellence, governance, and improvement. ✅ Effective communication and stakeholder engagement skills at senior levels.

Basis of Remuneration
