Director of Practice and Clinical Services
Lead, Inspire and Make Your Mark in a Thriving Small Animal Practice
Salary up to £85,000 DOE, plus a Welcome Bonus of up to £3,000 and a Relocation Allowance of up to £3,000

The Opportunity
We are seeking a Director of Practice and Clinical Services to join Holmefield Vets, a two-site, highly respected small animal practice set in semi-rural Brayton, South of York.
Ideal for an experienced vet looking to shape the future of a well-established practice while maintaining hands-on clinical work.
Key Responsibilities
This role offers the best of both worlds: 80% practical clinical work and a leadership role, including:
- Hands-on clinical work: Work on varied caseloads such as consults, surgery and emergency care in two busy practice sites.
- Leadership & team development: Support and mentor colleagues, junior vets, and new graduates, guiding clinical decision-making and fostering confidence.
- Strategic influence: Shape the growth, standards and culture of the practice, driving clinical improvements and sustainable development.
- Cross-site coordination: Ensure consistency in clinical standards, governance, and operations across two sites.
- Leadership & culture: Set the strategic direction and lead teams in client experience, business performance and operational excellence.

Working Pattern
- Hours: 40 hrs/week (either 4 or 5 days)
- On Call: One in four Saturday mornings only
- No out-of-hours or permanent on-call commitments
Ideal Candidate
You’ll be a senior leader with:
✅ Proven experience in a senior management/leadership role within veterinary practice ✅ Strong clinical expertise with the ability to mentor colleagues, discuss complex cases and set clinical standards ✅ Collaborative & people-centred leadership style, with experience in onboarding, coaching and developing teams ✅ Essential skills: Clinical governance, continuous improvement, stakeholder engagement and stakeholder communication

Salary & Benefits
Starting salary of £70,000 progressing to £85,000 (pro rata). Duties determined under a fair wages model.
