Clinical Director - Equine

Clinical Director – Equine Only Practice (Highlands)

Role Overview

Salary up to £80,000 per annum, relocation allowance up to £5,000, and welcome bonus up to £5,000.

Now, we’re looking for a Clinical Director to lead a 24/7 equine practice in the Highlands.

Kessock Equine Vets is the only dedicated equine practice in the Highlands, delivering ambulatory and emergency care to a loyal client base. This is a small, established team with strong foundations, but also unmatched opportunity—from clinical leadership to shaping future growth.

Hours: Up to 40 hours/week, with weekends on-call (1:4.5 ratio).

What We’re Looking For

We seek a senior clinical leader with equine expertise, business acumen, and a commitment to excellence.

Core Qualifications & Experience

  • Advanced equine certification (e.g., CertAVP/ECVE equivalent).
  • Proven clinical leadership (e.g., previous Director of Practice or VCS role).
  • Commercial awareness: Insight into practice ownership, sustainability, and growth.
  • People development skills:
    • Proven experience mentoring and motivating veterinary teams.
    • Strong transparency and emotional intelligence.
  • Clinical governance expertise:
    • Experience with audits, QA, and improvement initiatives.
    • Passion for best-practice veterinary standards.
  • Communication & stakeholder engagement:
    • Influencing skills across clinical, client, and partner networks.
  • Collaborative leadership style: Prioritising clinical standards and hands-on care.
