The Role: Clinical Director (Director of Practice & Clinical Services)

As Clinical Director, you will lead both the clinical and strategic vision of the practice, collaborating closely with the Practice Manager to ensure:

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead clinical governance and standards across the practice
  • Develop clinical protocols, patient pathways, and quality improvement initiatives
  • Mentor and support the small, high-performing veterinary team
  • Work with the Practice Manager on operational performance, workforce planning, and sustainability
  • Drive service development, investment priorities, and strategic growth
  • Act as a senior clinical ambassador to clients and referring practices
  • Maintain an active clinical role aligned with your interests
  • Participate in the out-of-hours (OOH) rota as part of team collaboration

Who Would Thrive Here?

You’ll want to step into this role if you’re a senior clinical leader equipped with:

  • A passion for equine medicine, ideally with advanced qualifications (e.g. CertAVP or equivalent)
  • Experience in a senior clinical or leadership role, with a track record of supporting and developing teams
  • Strong commercial awareness, including practice performance and sustainability expertise
  • Leadership and team engagement skills, fostering high performance and rallying support
  • Experience in clinical governance, audits, and continuous improvement
  • Exceptional communication and influencing to build stakeholder trust
  • A values-driven approach, prioritizing high clinical standards and client care
