Director of Practice and Clinical Services - Mearley Veterinary Group

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and commercially aware Veterinary Surgeon to join Mearley Veterinary Group as Director of Practice and Clinical Services. This is a fantastic opportunity to step into a leadership role while remaining closely involved in clinical practice.

The Director of Practice and Clinical Services plays a pivotal role in:

  • Overseing operations across three veterinary practices in Clitheroe, Accrington, and Barrowford
  • Leading the practice team to drive high standards of patient care
  • Supporting sustainable commercial success across the group

    • In-house laboratory equipment

Location and Culture

Located in Lancashire, our practices are set in a beautiful countryside with easy access to:

  • Ribble Valley
  • Pendle Hill
  • Forest of Bowland

Key Responsibilities

As Director of Practice & Clinical Services, you will:

  • Provide senior clinical leadership across three practices
  • Set and deliver a clinical vision aligned with inspiring vet care’s strategy, standards, and values
  • Oversee clinical governance, quality improvement, and performance, working collaboratively with operational leaders
  • Ensure excellent patient outcomes, sustainable service delivery, and a strong clinical culture
  • Maintain an active clinical caseload while mentoring colleagues

Working Pattern

  • Full-time (40 hours per week)
  • 4 or 5 days per week, including one in four Saturdays (9am–1pm)
  • 75% clinical commitment, with dedicated leadership responsibilities
  • Flexible hours (typically 9am–7pm)
  • No out-of-hours or on-call commitments

Are You a Great Fit?

We’re looking for an experienced Veterinary Surgeon with:

  • Proven experience in a senior or leadership role within veterinary practice
  • Strong clinical expertise, confidence in handling complex cases
  • A collaborative leadership style with experience in mentoring and team development
  • Clinical governance and continuous improvement experience
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills

** Compensation and Benefits**

  • Base salary: £60,000 – £80,000 per year
  • Salary onBand 6 DOE: up to £80,000
