Clinical Director
Ash Tree Vets is seeking a Confident Clinical Director to join their well-established multi-site practice serving Leicestershire and Northamptonshire.
We are a first-opinion practice renowned for our high clinical standards, excellent client care, and supportive team environment. Our team includes:
- 15 dedicated veterinary surgeons
- A passionate nursing team
- Experienced reception and administrative colleagues
The Role
As Clinical Director, you will lead our clinical strategy and operational direction, ensuring the delivery of top-tier patient care and team growth. Working closely with our leadership team, you will shape the future of Ash Tree Vets while fostering an inclusive team culture valued by clients and colleagues alike.
Key Responsibilities
- Line management: Support and guide senior team members and veterinary surgeons.
- Clinical excellence: Oversee performance, standards, and patient care across all practice sites.
- Team leadership: Coach, develop, and mentor the clinical team while fostering collaboration.
- Business improvement: Contribute to financial sustainability through service enhancements, procurement, and growth strategies.
- Operational responsibilities: Manage day-to-day practice functions in tandem with our Practice Manager and Business Development Director.
- Outreach: Collaborate with the VetPartners network and external stakeholders.
- Mentorship: Champion our culture and values while mentoring new team members.
- Reputation management: Uphold our practice’s standing as a leader in client care and workplace culture.

This is an autonomous positioning where you will have significant influence. Support structures include:
- Senior Leadership Training (provided by VetPartners)
- Guidance from a Heading Vet team, Lead Nurse, Head Receptionist, Practice Manager and Business Development Director
The existing team is highly collaborative and prioritises case discussion, mentoring, and professional development, allowing the new Director to focus on strategic growth.
Ideal Candidate Profile
Our Clinical Director will be a progressive, approachable MRCVS who:
- Demonstrates strong clinical ability, with an emphasis on continuity of care and holistic decision-making.
- Engages in opposite communication, earns trust, and empowers team members to thrive.
- Is a motivated leader with a client and team-focused mindset.
- Shows flexibility and enthusiasm for whole-practice development.
Earlier leadership experience is preferable but not essential. A structured onboarding program—including VetPartners’ Senior Leadership Course—ensures you receive full support, with the added option of applying from within our own team at Ash Tree Vets.
About Ash Tree Vets
We serve communities in Market Harborough, Kibworth, and Desborough. Our bases include:
- The established Market Harborough practice, previously a veterinary school hospital.
- A modern, advanced facility in Kibworth, providing sophisticated diagnostic and therapeutic support.
Specialised Services
- Wide-ranging medical and surgical caseload for all species.
- In-house offerings including:
- Physiotherapy
- Acupuncture
- RVN-led behavior consultations
- Certified ophthalmology referrals (internal and external access)
- Overnight non-critical inpatients retained at the practice, supported by neighbouring emergency/hospital partners.

Package & Benefits
Competitive Salary
- Range: Up to £75,000 per annum, DOE.
- Flexible work pattern: Full time (30 hours across 4 days to start)—with potential to accommodate other schedules.
- Roles includes mandatory participation in weeknight inpatient and shared weekend coverage.
Benefits Package
- 6.6 weeks paid holiday (including bank holidays)
- CPD funding: £1,750 +VAT + 5 days CPD (prorated); fees for certificate courses financially supported
- Professional memberships: Liable for MRCVS/VDS (full payment), plus memberships to 2 additional professional bodies
