Medical Equipment Manager/Land Technologist

About NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC)

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is one of the largest healthcare systems in the United Kingdom, employing approximately 40,000 staff across a diverse range of clinical and non-clinical professions. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community, and mental health services to a population of over 1.15 million people, extending to approximately 2.2 million when regional and national services are included.

The Role

Medical equipment is critical for the diagnosis and treatment of patients across all areas of healthcare. Ensuring its full functionality and accuracy is fundamental to patient safety, and the Medical Equipment Management service is tasked with overseeing this science.

The Medical Equipment Management service is led by a team of highly skilled clinical engineer technologists specialising in medical equipment. Based across ten hospital sites within NHSGGC, we manage over 55,000 medical devices and complete over 60,000 jobs annually, operating within this fast-moving health service.

You will join a team operating from Stobhill Hospital, providing a regional service across Greater Glasgow and Clyde. Due to the nature of the work, frequent off-site visits will be required to repair, commission, and maintain medical equipment at varying sites.

As a permanent post with a Monday to Friday working week, your role will vary each day—whether assisting in theatre during an equipment failure, commissioning new equipment, or conducting planned maintenance in an outpatient clinic. You will support a wide range of medical devices, including high- and medium-risk equipment such as infusion pumps.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and prioritise a defined workload, ensuring safe, timely, and effective delivery of services -undertake assessments, implement and evaluate interventions within your area of practice
  • Work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team to ensure high-quality patient care
  • Communicate effectively with patients, carers, and healthcare professionals
  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date records in line with organisational and professional standards
  • Contribute to service improvement, audit, and clinical governance activities
  • Train colleagues, students, or support staff in line with role requirements

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
