Neonatal Service Opportunity

The neonatal service operates a two-tier rota during daytime hours until 9pm. The successful applicant will be working on the junior tier supervised by the consultant which consists of clinical fellows and ANNPs. There is additional cover for the service provided by Wessex trainees in paediatrics at grades ST4-8 who provide overnight and weekend cover for neonatal emergencies. This is a 9 months fixed term only, possible extension to 12 months.

There will be an opportunity for the successful applicant to develop skills and take forward projects in the areas of neurodevelopment, neonatal cardiology, teaching, service development and research.

The department is well respected and has a high standard of care with four Goods and one Outstanding in its last CQC inspection. It is a friendly and supportive department working within the excellent Wessex region paediatric area.

The hospital is situated in one of the most beautiful parts of the country, with easy access to the countryside and to coastal areas. There is an excellent rail and road network to other major cities.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
