We are hoping to appoint 5 Clinical Fellows for a one-year fixed term post to work within the University Hospital of Wales Obstetrics and Gynaecology Department and to complete a Quality Improvement project.

About the Role

The successful candidates will work collaboratively with consultants, resident doctors and the wider multidisciplinary team in the department to provide both elective and emergency obstetric and gynaecological services to secondary and tertiary level patients attending the hospital. The successful candidate will contribute to the obstetric and gynaecological workload of the department including delivery suite, ward rounds, theatres and clinics.

Key Responsibilities

  • Clinical Work: Provide obstetric and gynaecological services, including work in delivery suite, ward rounds, theatres, and clinics.
  • Education: Attend PROMPT and CTG teaching and contribute to the local postgraduate teaching programme.
  • On-Call Rota: Participate in a 3-tier on-call rota, typically allocated to the first-tier (1st on-call) level. The allocated rota tier may be adjusted based on prior experience and service needs.

On-Call Details

  • The on-call frequency and specific tier assignments remain flexible and subject to ongoing departmental and service needs.
  • The post will have flexible banding payment depending on the on-call frequency being worked.
  • Changes to the on-call frequency will be communicated in writing 6 weeks prior to the change.
