6-month fixed term (with potential extension)
NHS Dumfries and Galloway are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic Clinical Fellow in Paediatrics, available from 5 August 2026 for an initial period of 6 months, with the possibility of extension. This post is based at the Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary, a modern, purpose-built facility, and is ideally suited to doctors who have recently completed their Foundation Programme or core training.
Role
This hospital-based role offers broad clinical experience, involving the care of children with both acute and chronic conditions across a variety of settings, including:
- Children’s Ward
- Neonatal Unit
- Outpatient Clinics
- Ambulatory Care Services
- Support to the Emergency Department
The post is full-time and includes participation in the resident on-call rota. Salary will be at ST level, commensurate with experience, with an additional banding supplement reflecting out-of-hours commitments.

The appointment will be subject to the Terms and Conditions of Service for Hospital Medical and Dental Staff and Doctors and Dentists in Public Health Medicine and the Community Health Service (Scotland).

NHS Dumfries and Galloway serves a population of approximately 148,500 across a large geographical area of around 2,400 square miles.
Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary relocated to a new site in December 2017 and is now a state-of-the-art facility providing a wide range of inpatient and outpatient services. The hospital has 160 medical beds, including a 42-bed Combined Assessment Unit, serving a catchment population of around 150,000.
