Clinical Fellows in Forensic Psychiatry

Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates to work as Clinical Fellows in our Inpatient Wards in Forensic Psychiatry. This role is on our Inpatient Oak Unit.

This is for a Full time (40 hours per week) post based at South West London and St George’s Mental Health Trust, Springfield Hospital, Tooting, London.

Job Details

The post is being offered at the equivalent of Core Trainee level, and the appointment would be at a grade based on the qualifications and experience of the applicant. The post will be initially for 6 months. But there is the possibility that the posts may be extended for a further 6 months, by mutual agreement and subject to availability and funding.

Role Responsibilities

Successful applicants will work at Springfield Hospital, as part of an MDT in modern in-patient psychiatric wards. The clinical supervisor will be the ward consultant who is based solely on the wards. The ward also has a second ward doctor (a core trainee or clinical fellow).

Target Candidates

The post is suitable for doctors at several stages of their career including:

  • Post Foundation Year 2
  • Doctors seeking attainment of specific expertise in an FY3 year
  • An additional clinical post while they obtain MRCPsych qualifications
  • Doctors seeking to enhance their portfolio to gain entry to the training grades
  • Doctors already in non-training Grade positions e.g. SAS doctors or Trust Fellows who are seeking a formal educational structure to their posts

There is no out of hours on-call duty for this role. However, there may be an opportunity to take part in the on-call rota to cover gaps, if desired and subject to availability.
