Job Summary

Applications are invited for the position of Clinical Fellow in Heart Failure and Cardiac Devices at Queen Elizabeth Hospital, University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Trust. The post is to commence as soon as possible until 3rd August 2027.

The unit offers a supra-regional service for the management of patients with Chronic Heart Failure and Cardiac Devices. The 4 hospitals comprising University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Trust implant circa 3000 cardiac device implantation procedures per annum (1200 at QEHB), including circa 300 cardiac resynchronisation therapy (CRT) device implantations (150 at QEH). QEH receives tertiary referrals from other centres for failed CRT cases that require adjunct strategies (e.g. venoplasty, tunnelling, femoral systems) as well as subcutaneous ICDs, leadless pacemakers and conduction system pacing (CSP). All aspects of the service involve experimental and clinical research, which is regularly published in major peer-reviewed journals. This post is suitable for an individual who is nearing completion or has completed their Cardiology training (peri-CCT) in Heart Failure and Cardiac Devices but would like to gain further, high-volume experience in this field prior to consultant appointment.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
