Twelve-Month Clinical Fellowship in Perioperative Medicine and Anaesthesia
We are delighted to advertise a twelve-month clinical Fellowship in Perioperative Medicine and Anaesthesia. This post is an exciting opportunity for a post-CCT anaesthetist or a senior anaesthetic registrar to join our team and develop their role as a perioperative physician. We pride ourselves in training excellence and have received excellent feedback from our previous fellow.
Training Opportunities
- Training in cardiopulmonary exercise testing and interpretation, progressing from direct supervision to mentored support.
- We train our Fellows to the level of independent consultant practice and expect to offer POETTS accreditation when nationally available.
- Experience of pre-operative echocardiography provided by a dedicated team of Intensive Care Consultants.
- Mentored sessions in high-risk preoperative assessment clinic.

- We perform robotic assisted urological, colorectal, head and neck, and gynaecological procedures. Oxford is a world-leading centre for radiologically-guided ablation of tumours, and sessions are available to learn the anaesthetic technique (high-frequency ventilation).
- Developing skills in running appropriate solo lists across the Trust (with remote supervision).
- Experience in visceral transplantation surgery including renal, simultaneous kidney-pancreas (for which we are one of the largest centres in the world), and modified multi-visceral transplantation.
- Experience in intensive-overnight recovery in our dedicated Overnight Recovery Unit.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
