Occupational Therapist Role in Children and Young People's Weight Management Service

We welcome applications from highly motivated Occupational Therapists to provide specialist occupational therapy input into the newly established Children and Young People's Weight Management Service.

Working collaboratively with multi-disciplinary colleagues, the post holder will be responsible for the design, implementation, and evaluation of the Children and Young People's Weight Management Service, acting as the occupational therapy expert.

This is an exciting new post working alongside colleagues in medicine, nursing, clinical psychology, dietetics, and physiotherapy.

The Post Holder Will

  • Autonomously manage a highly specialized caseload providing assessment and treatment of individuals, formulating and implementing specialist Occupational Therapy programmes using evidence-based/client-centred principles to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate interventions. (Organizing this efficiently and effectively with regard to clinical priorities and use of time).
  • Develop and maintain clinical standards across the Health Board.
  • Develop and support education and training within weight management for children and young people.
  • Undertake critical analysis, appraisal, and synthesis of current research outcomes and/or relevant literature in order to maintain expert levels of knowledge and practice within weight management and pediatrics.
  • Work closely with relevant networks.
  • Contribute to the development of new and innovative concepts, models, methods, and practices, in order to transform i.e. support/deliver new and improved children and young people’s weight management provision across Therapy services and settings (reflective of the rural nature of local services).
