Band 7 Clinical Lead Occupational Therapist – Westhaven Community Hospital
About the Role
Are you an enthusiastic Occupational Therapist looking to broaden your practice and help shape the future of ward-based community rehabilitation? Join our supportive multidisciplinary team at Westhaven Community Hospital and the wider Integrated Community Rehabilitation Team.
In this Band 7 Clinical Lead role, you will provide advanced clinical leadership across the patient journey, delivering specialist advice and person-centred interventions while supporting pathway development and service improvement. This opportunity is centered on shaping a sustainable model for senior OT leadership across the Trust, alongside a 12-month secondment or fixed-term pilot.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Leadership & Patient Care
- Provide advanced clinical leadership and specialist Occupational Therapy expertise across Westhaven Community Hospital and the wider ICRT.
- Deliver complex assessment, rehabilitation, discharge planning, safeguarding, capacity assessments, and risk management for patients with complex needs.
- Use advanced clinical judgement, critical analysis, and decision-making to support safe, person-centred care.

Service Development & Quality Improvement
- Lead service development, quality improvement, audit, and outcome monitoring.
- Contribute to rehabilitation pathway redesign to ensure evidence-based practice.
- Work collaboratively with health, social care, and community partners to improve patient flow, rehabilitation outcomes, and timely discharge planning.
Workforce Development
- Support workforce development through supervision, education, and professional leadership.
Operational Requirements
- Follow the team’s 7-day working rota.
- A driving licence and access to a vehicle is essential for community visits.
Requirements & Eligibility
- Must have the valid right to work in the UK (visa sponsorship unavailable).
- Enhanced DBS check mandated (cost covered by the Trust).
- Currently employed within the NHS (secondment only); permission must be secured prior to applying.
