Overview

Clinical Lead - Paediatrics Ward

The Hampshire Clinic

37.5 Hours & Permanent

Salary: Up to £52,000.00 per year (depending on level of experience, training and qualification)

The Hampshire Clinic is part of Circle Health Group, Britain's leading provider of independent healthcare with a nationwide network of hospitals & clinics, performing more complex surgery than any other private healthcare provider in the country.

We have an opportunity for a Clinical Lead to join their team of staff in the Paediatrics Ward department.

This is a full-time role for 37.5 hours a week. The role holder will be required to cover a flexible shift pattern.

Duties Of This Role Include

  • Provide clinical leadership and expert oversight for all paediatric and CYP services within the hospital.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements (CQC, NMC, national paediatric standards).
  • Lead on the implementation of clinical governance, safeguarding, and quality improvement frameworks within CYP services.
  • Act as the lead nurse for paediatrics, advising senior leadership on clinical issues, risk, and service development.
  • Oversee the safe admission, care, and discharge of paediatric patients, ensuring pathways meet best practice standards.
  • Act as the hospital’s CYP safeguarding lead, working closely with the Designated Safeguarding Lead to ensure robust safeguarding processes.
  • Lead and manage the paediatric nursing team, ensuring safe staffing, skill mix, and rota management.
  • Lead the development of the CYP service, ensuring it evolves in line with national guidance, patient needs, and organisational strategy.

Applicant Requirements

Applicants Should Meet The Following Criteria

  • Registered Children’s Nurse (RSCN / RN (Child)) with valid NMC registration.
  • Significant post-registration experience in paediatrics, including previous leadership or management roles.
  • Strong knowledge of paediatric nursing practice, clinical governance, and safeguarding legislation.
  • Proven ability to lead teams, manage complex situations, and ensure high-quality, safe care.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and influencing skills.
  • Strong organisational and time management abilities.
  • Experience in quality improvement, audit, and service development.
  • Postgraduate qualification in paediatric nursing, leadership, or management.
  • Experience in both NHS and independent healthcare settings.
  • Safeguarding Children Level 4 training.
  • Experience leading CQC inspections or equivalent regulatory reviews.
  • Evidence of research, teaching, or involvement in service innovation projects.
