Location University Hospitals of Derby and Burton (UHDB) Responsibilities & Scope This role encompasses oversight across UHDB’s Computed Tomography (CT) services, including:
- Royal Derby Hospital
- Queens Hospital, Burton
- Static CT services in community sites:
- Florence Nightingale Community Hospital
- Ilkeston Community Hospital
- Mobile CT facilities deployed at Sir Robert Peel Community Hospital, Tamworth
The position involves close collaboration with:
- Other clinical managers across image modalities
- Senior administrative colleagues
This is a leadership opportunity to:
- Develop and sustain Acute and Community Diagnostic Services at UHDB
- Deliver a high-quality, patient-focused CT service, supporting a diverse range of clinical specialties
- Foster a dynamic team culture while driving innovation and improvement
About the Role
We are seeking a motivated, experienced Radiographer with:
- Proven leadership skills in managing fast-paced, high-volume environments
- A track record of driving operational excellence, service transformation, and driving successful change within diagnostic imaging
- Enthusiasm for evolving alongside a forward-thinking team
The ideal candidate will:
- Collaborate with Senior Management (clinical and administrative)
- Champion operational leadership across Diagnostic Imaging
- Ensure high-quality, responsive care is delivered across all UHDB sites
- Culture the values of compassion, openness, and excellence in every endeavour

Key Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor an established CT team in delivering exceptional patient care
- Initiate and manage service improvements, ensuring sustained delivery of high standards
- Engage effectively with engineers, consultants, doctors, and multidisciplinary teams
- Resolve challenges proactively, bridging any gaps in available resources
- Promote a culture of continuous professional development
- Contribute to operational strategies and travel arrangements for mobile CT services
Essential Traits
✔ Exceptional communication skills, with ability to influence and negotiate at senior levels ✔ Change management expertise combined with strong stakeholder engagement skills ✔ Ability to identify and implement efficiencies ✔ Thorough understanding of patient-focused care delivery in diagnostic imaging
