Clinical Negligence Lawyer
Clinical Negligence Lawyer, Maternity Cover 3+ years’ experience | Circa £45/hr DOE | Fixed term, part-time (3-4 days/week) | Hertfordshire / Hybrid | Reference: 4475
Join a supportive, specialist team delivering high-quality claimant clinical negligence work with flexible hybrid working. This role offers introductory maternity cover for an experienced solicitor or legal executive.
The Role
We are seeking an experienced Clinical Negligence Lawyer to provide maternity cover within a high-regarded Clinical Negligence practice. In a part-time, fixed-term role (3-4 days per week), you will manage a caseload of approximately 30 claimant matters, covering a range of complex cases including:
- Misdiagnosis claims
- Psychiatric injury matters
- Fatal accident claims
You will be responsible for progressing files independently, while benefiting from expert guidance from senior colleagues. Key duties include:

- Gathering and analysing evidence
- Identifying legal issues
- Preparing schedules of loss, witness statements, and Particulars of Claim
- Instructing Counsel and expert witnesses
- Liaising with defendants
- Ensuring a consistently high standard of client care throughout litigation
The Candidate
We are looking for qualified Solicitors or Legal Executives with:
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in claimant clinical negligence work
- Strong case management skills to handle independent caseloads efficiently
- Exceptional organisation and IT proficiency
- Deep technical knowledge of clinical negligence law and practice
- Self-motivation and the ability to work with minimal supervision
