Clinical Negligence Lawyer – Clinical Risk (Southampton)

The Role

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced clinical negligence lawyer to join a leading Clinical Risk team based in Southampton. The team represents major healthcare providers and insurers, handling complex, high-value defendant clinical negligence claims.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing a diverse caseload, including:
    • Drafting pleadings, witness statements, and response letters
    • Negotiating and mediating claims
    • Acting as main client contact
    • Providing commercially astute legal advice
    • Ensuring compliance with client protocols

  • Supervising and mentoring junior fee earners
  • Contributing to training and knowledge-sharing initiatives

What You’ll Bring

You must be a qualified solicitor with specialist experience in clinical negligence or insurance law, ideally at a national or leading specialist firm.

Key requirements:

  • Familiarity with NHS Resolution panel work and a deep understanding of healthcare sector dynamics would be a significant advantage.
  • Demonstrated strong technical and commercial skills, with exceptional organisational ability.
  • Confidence to work independently under pressure, with a team-oriented mindset.
  • Proven mentoring experience and a proactive, client-focused approach.
