Accredited Clinical / Nurse Endoscopist Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has become available for an accredited Clinical / Nurse Endoscopist to join our established and highly regarded Endoscopy team. The successful candidate will contribute to the delivery of a high quality, patient centered endoscopy service while supporting the ongoing development and growth of the service.

Role Overview

The post holder will work closely with the Endoscopy Clinical Leads, Lead Clinical Endoscopist, Service Manager, and Matron to ensure the delivery of an effective, efficient, and patient-focused service. Care will be provided in accordance with agreed clinical protocols, guidelines, and pathways for patients undergoing gastrointestinal investigations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work alongside experienced and highly skilled endoscopy professionals.
  • Further develop their expertise and gain additional endoscopic accreditation where appropriate.
  • Play a vital role within the Endoscopy department, contributing to service improvement, maintaining clinical excellence, and ensuring national and local waiting time targets are achieved.
  • Deliver a positive patient experience and high standards of care for both current and future patients.

Requirements

This role is ideally suited to an accredited Upper GI Endoscopist and/or an endoscopist accredited in both upper and lower GI procedures. The post holder will undertake up to five endoscopy lists per week and, where appropriate, conduct follow up clinics to discuss investigation findings and management plans with patients.

Skills and Competencies

  • Working as an autonomous expert practitioner.
  • Utilise advanced clinical knowledge and skills to independently perform diagnostic and therapeutic upper and/or lower gastrointestinal endoscopy procedures on both sedated and non-sedated patients.
  • Responsible for maintaining the highest standards of clinical practice and patient safety.
