NHS Forth Valley Seeks Clinical Nurse Manager (Band 8A)

NHS Forth Valley seeks to appoint an experienced Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN) to the position of Clinical Nurse Manager (Band 8A) for the Mental Health Unit at Forth Valley Royal Hospital.

The Clinical Nurse Manager (CNM) plays a critical role in providing clinical, managerial and professional nursing leadership across adult inpatient mental health services, with operational responsibility for Wards 1-5.

We invite applications from motivated individuals who are passionate about delivering safe, effective and person-centred care and who can combine strong leadership with extensive mental health nursing knowledge and experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical, managerial, and professional nursing leadership across adult inpatient mental health services.
  • Ensure the effective delivery of services through visible clinical leadership, professional nursing leadership, and operational management.
  • Lead Senior Charge Nurses and multidisciplinary teams, ensuring high standards of patient care, patient safety, workforce wellbeing, clinical governance, and service performance.
  • Collaborate with managers and professional leads across Mental Health and Learning Disability Services.
  • Participate in the senior management on-call rota.

Role in Service Improvement

  • Lead priorities in service improvement, quality, safety initiatives, workforce development, and modernisation programmes.
  • Provide expert professional advice and operational leadership across the Mental Health Unit.
  • Work closely with the Service Manager and Chief Nurse to provide assurance regarding the quality, safety, and effectiveness of inpatient mental health services.
  • Lead on workforce planning, governance, quality improvement, regulatory compliance, risk management, and the implementation of national and local priorities across the Mental Health Unit.

Representation and Development

  • Represent NHS Forth Valley Mental Health Services at local, regional, and national forums.
  • Contribute to the ongoing development and promotion of mental health nursing practice.

Travel Requirements

  • Ability and willingness to travel throughout the area of service delivery is essential for this post.
