About the Role
An exciting opportunity for an experienced Registered Adult or Mental Health Nurse in a specialist role supporting patients with formal or informal dementia diagnoses. Key Responsibilities
Clinical Delivery
- Support patients with dementia or cognitive impairment across all stages of disease progression
- Care for patients presenting with delirium
- Provide education and clinical expertise to wards, families, and carers
- Offer emotional & psychological support, both autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team (MDT)

Educational & Supervisory Role
- Lead dedicated dementia education for Trust staff using evidence-based best practice
- Facilitate innovation in care delivery, adapting to service development
- Line manage dementia team members (Dementia Nurses, Dementia Nurse Associates, Dementia Technicians)
- Deputise for the Head of Nursing for Mental Health and Dementia in their absence
Student & Volunteer Support
- Act as Practice Assessor/Supervisor for students (pre-/post-registration) in placement
- Support multidisciplinary student placements within SPOKE initiatives
- Provide expertise/supervision for patients with delirium (with/without dementia)
- Act as mentor to dementia team staff across the entire Trust
Person Specification
- Registered Nurse (Adult/Mental Health)
- Specialist knowledge of dementia/cognitive impairment
- Ability to liaise across MDTs and deliver psychological support
- Experience educating staff, patients, and families about dementia/delirium
- Commitment to embedding continuously improving, evidence-based care
- Line-management expertise (preferred) for team supervision
