Job Overview
The HIV service in Suffolk is delivered at our Ipswich and Bury St Edmunds clinics. The post holder will work autonomously within a small team providing holistic and high quality care to service users encouraging and enabling self-management of HIV as a chronic disease. The role offers the opportunity to manage a caseload of clinically stable patients alongside the triage and management of those with issues relating to therapy, minor illness, co-infections and co-morbidities, with the support of medical colleagues.
This post will be based at our Orwell clinic, Ipswich. There will be some expectation to provide cover at our Abbeyview clinic, Bury St Edmunds.
Main duties of the job
- Use highly specialised knowledge and skills to manage a caseload of patients with complex needs for regular follow-up care as agreed with the referring doctor providing care which focuses on enabling patients to optimise their health within the limitations of a chronic and life-threatening disease.
- Ensure that an optimum level of care and support is available for all patients and their carers accessing the service.
- Coordinate effective communication across the multidisciplinary team, between departments and the community.
- Provide specialist education and development for nursing staff and colleagues through education programmes, individual development programmes and clinical supervision.
- Undertakes relevant specialist research and leads clinical audit within the consultant team.

Essential criteria
- At least 4 years post qualification experience
- Experience of contributing to audits
Desirable criteria
- Minimum 2 years experience within an HIV or Sexual Health setting.
- Audit experience
- Experience in leading on audits
