As a Clinical Nurse Specialist within our Lung Cancer Service at Cromwell Hospital, you'll play a key role in delivering expert, patient-centred care to patients undergoing diagnosis, treatment and ongoing management of lung cancer and complex thoracic conditions.
Working closely with consultants and the wider multidisciplinary team, you will coordinate patient pathways, provide specialist clinical advice, and act as an advocate for patients and their families throughout their cancer journey. You'll also contribute to service development, education, quality improvement and the continued growth of our specialist lung service.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced oncology nurse or established Clinical Nurse Specialist looking to further develop their expertise within a leading independent hospital.
How You'll Help Us Make Health Happen
- Provide specialist nursing care and support for patients with lung cancer across inpatient and outpatient settings.
- Act as a key worker for patients and their families, providing clinical guidance, emotional support and advocacy throughout the patient journey.
- Manage a caseload of patients, working autonomously and collaboratively to ensure the delivery of safe, effective and personalised care.
- Support consultants within lung and oncology outpatient clinics, assessing patients and coordinating investigations, treatment plans and follow-up care.
- Work closely with the multidisciplinary team to develop, implement and evaluate individualised care plans.
- Support thoracic surgery inpatients and facilitate seamless care across multiple departments and services.
- Participate in and support Lung MDT meetings, ensuring accurate communication and documentation of treatment decisions.
- Lead and contribute to service improvement initiatives, audits, quality projects and pathway development.
- Provide education, mentorship and support to junior nurses and members of the wider healthcare team.
- Act as a clinical role model, ensuring the highest standards of patient care, governance and professional practice.
- Build relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support service development and enhance patient outcomes.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
