Clinical Nurse Specialist - Pain Management

Band 6 Clinical Nurse Specialist in Pain Management – Yorkshire NHS Foundation Trust

About the Role

We are seeking a motivated and compassionate Band 6 Clinical Nurse Specialist in Pain Management to join our specialist service within Theatres, Anaesthetics and Critical Care. This role offers the opportunity to provide expert, evidence-based care and advice for patients with acute, complex and persistent pain across the site, while supporting:

  • Safe clinical practice
  • Education and governance
  • Service improvement across inpatient and outpatient pathways

The successful candidate will be an experienced registered nurse with:

  • Strong clinical judgement
  • Excellent communication skills
  • A commitment to person-centred care

The role requires autonomous and collaborative working within a multidisciplinary team, supporting:

  • Pain assessment
  • Care planning
  • Safe analgesic techniques
  • Patient education
  • Staff development
  • Audit and quality improvement

Key Responsibilities

The post holder will manage a defined caseload and carry continuing responsibility for:

  • Assessment of care needs
  • Development, implementation, and evaluation of care programmes
  • Setting standards of care

Core Duties:

  • Provide specialist nursing care and advice to a specific patient group
  • Contribute to the development of the specialist pain management service
  • Ensure cost-effective use of resources

Requirements

The successful candidate must meet the following:

  • 2 years’ experience in:
    • Surgical nursery
    • Theatres nursing
    • Or critical care nursing
