Clinical Nurse Specialist - Pain Management
Band 6 Clinical Nurse Specialist in Pain Management – Yorkshire NHS Foundation Trust
About the Role
We are seeking a motivated and compassionate Band 6 Clinical Nurse Specialist in Pain Management to join our specialist service within Theatres, Anaesthetics and Critical Care. This role offers the opportunity to provide expert, evidence-based care and advice for patients with acute, complex and persistent pain across the site, while supporting:
- Safe clinical practice
- Education and governance
- Service improvement across inpatient and outpatient pathways
The successful candidate will be an experienced registered nurse with:
- Strong clinical judgement
- Excellent communication skills
- A commitment to person-centred care
The role requires autonomous and collaborative working within a multidisciplinary team, supporting:
- Pain assessment
- Care planning
- Safe analgesic techniques
- Patient education
- Staff development
- Audit and quality improvement

Key Responsibilities
The post holder will manage a defined caseload and carry continuing responsibility for:
- Assessment of care needs
- Development, implementation, and evaluation of care programmes
- Setting standards of care
Core Duties:
- Provide specialist nursing care and advice to a specific patient group
- Contribute to the development of the specialist pain management service
- Ensure cost-effective use of resources
Requirements
The successful candidate must meet the following:
- 2 years’ experience in:
- Surgical nursery
- Theatres nursing
- Or critical care nursing
