Clinical Psychologist
Clinical / Forensic Psychologist – Barnet Lane Clinic
Join Barnet Lane Clinic—part of Elysium’s Complex Care and Recovery Service (CCRS)—and leverage your psychological expertise to make a meaningful impact within a multidisciplinary, collaborative environment. This role involves supporting adults aged 18+ with complex and enduring mental health needs, where autism, trauma, personality disorders (PD), neurodevelopmental conditions, ADHD, psychosis, and physical health comorbidities overlap.
The Role
In this rewarding and dynamic position, you will:
- Design and deliver specialist psychological care, including assessments, therapeutic interventions, and clinical formulations, informed by evidence-based practice.
- Work closely with multidisciplinary teams (including doctors, nurses, occupational therapists, and social workers) under the supervision of a Senior/Principal/Consultant Psychologist.
- Support service users throughout their recovery journey, ensuring engagement in care pathways and holistic, person-centred treatment.
- Develop and refine pioneering therapeutic approaches, including groupwork programmes, tailored to complex presentations.
- Enhance service quality by influencing new initiatives, improving clinical governance standards, and promoting best practice.
- Mentor and supervise Assistant Psychologists, ensuring alignment with BPS ethical guidelines and professional standards.
- Collaborate internally and externally (e.g., with external agencies) to streamline treatment pathways and coordinated care.
Key Accountabilities
- Conduct comprehensive psychological assessments using:
- Neuropsychological testing
- Rating scales, self-report measures, structured interviews (with service users, families, and involved parties)
- Clinical observations (direct and indirect)
- Develop evidence-based psychological treatment plans grounded in:
- A robust conceptual framework of the service user’s challenges
- Efficacious interventions across all care settings
- Implement a range of psychological interventions, including:
- Individualised therapy (adjusting formulations based on evolving understanding)
- Groupwork programmes with evidence of outcome measurement
- Ensure adherence to clinical governance and ethical standards, including:
- Compliance with HCPC and BPS guidelines
- Continuous quality improvement in psychological practices
- Drive innovation in therapeutic models while integrating new assessment methods.

Requirements of the Role
To succeed in this impactful position, you must:
- Hold a Doctorate in Clinical or Forensic Psychology or BPS Stage 2 Forensic Psychology accreditation, with eligibility for HCPC registration as a Practitioner Psychologist.
- Be registered with the HCPC and chartered with the BPS.
- Demonstrate clinical experience (pre-, during, or post-training) in working with complex mental health presentations, including:
- Autism spectrum disorder
- Trauma-informed care
- Personality disorders (PD)
- Treatment-resistant conditions (e.g., psychosis, self-harm behaviours, disordered eating)
- Exhibit competency in:
- Psychological assessment and formulation (and an eagerness to learn new techniques)
- Risk management (forensic experience a plus)
- CBT-based therapy for clinical/forensic issues, with awareness of other therapeutic modalities (e.g., schema therapy, mindfulness-based approaches).
- Possess:
- Up-to-date knowledge of relevant legislation (e.g., MHA, DoLS, safeguarding).
- Problem-solving skills, able to proactively address service challenges.
- Experience in supervising junior psychology colleagues and advising on psychological applications for non-psychology staff.
